Showcase your designs in the U.S of A!

Introducing ....

2011 G'Day USA:


G’Day USA is an annual program designed to showcase Australian business capabilities in the USA - Australia's largest trading and investment partner. Over the last seven years, G'Day USA has brought together industry leaders and key influencers in government, business, tourism, academia and the arts to successfully cultivate and enhance the long term and deep Australia-United States relationship.




In 2011, over 14 days, 30 events will reach targeted audiences in eight cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Denver, Houston, Boston and New York through conferences and forums, networking, product sampling and promotions. The result is one of the most effective, far reaching and comprehensive annual national promotions across many areas with the goal of strengthening bilateral collaboration and realizing new business opportunities which is important to both Americans and Australians.




New York Designer Showroom Fashion Event 18-21 January 2011:


A key activity will be the Designer Showroom Promotional Event in New York. Running for the fifth year, this fashion showcase will feature fourteen (14) Australian contemporary fashion designers. Designers will have the opportunity to showcase their collections (clothing & jewellery) to New York fashionistas, fashion editors, stylists and retail buyers over a period of three days.




Australian Wool Innovation – key sponsor of the 2011 Fashion Designer (clothing)Showcase


Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) is the key sponsor for the fashion clothing segment of the showcase. AWI serves the Australian wool industry through its activities around the world aimed at increasing wool consumption in the retail sector. This is the third year that AWI has sponsored the fashion clothing showcase.




Eligibility Criteria:


Designers interested in participating should meet the eligibility criteria detailed in the flyer and send in the Designer Biography form no later than 8th October 2010.


Selection of designers:


A Fashion Steering Committee comprising members from the Australia Week Committee, Australian Wool Innovation, the selected PR Company and fashion related businesses will be responsible for the final selection of participating designers.


Austrade's role:


The Australia Week Committee (comprising Tourism Australia, QANTAS, the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade and Austrade) is supporting this initiative as part of the G'Day program in New York. Austrade will be managing the event which will include:


· Event marketing and recruitment of designers


· Liaison with the Fashion PR company for overall logistics for the event


· Liaison with the Fashion Steering Committee for selection of final participants


· Pre – Event boot camp and communication with selected participants through-out the whole process including in market briefing and logistics


· Refreshments (briefing and lunches)


Please note that Austrade will be charging a fee, as per its client service policy, for managing the event and that participating designers will need to meet this cost. The cost per participant is AUD 1330 (7 hours x190). This fee maybe claimed back through the Export Market Development Scheme administered by Austrade.


Registration: no later than 8th October:
