CELEBRATE THE SUN
THE AUCTION NIGHT...EXTENDED ONLINE BIDDING CONTINUES!
10.11.10 --- 1 being the superstitious number for loneliness, it also rained... but it didn’t stop WA’s creative industry descending to THE BIRD for CELEBRATE THE SUN’s first event for 2010 : Silent Auction and fundraiser to deliver an important message:
“As CREATIVES – Our role in the community is to create, influence and change.
We follow CREATIVITY to find internal truths for who we are, what we stand for and through our line of work – how we can make an impact.
With CREATIVITY as an outlet to express self acceptance through social, environmental, political perspectives - a designer, writer, blogger, stylist, performer or artist can project a personal message ( often at the risk of intense public scrutiny ) as an honest statement of one’s life experiences and journey through change.
It is because of CREATIVITY, we give ourselves permission to be closer to who we truly are and discover how we can contribute to change.
Without CREATIVITY we suppress our right to express ourselves.Following Creativity brings happiness and truth. And from truth –we find identity and our place in the world.
If only more people knew how to follow CREATIVITY – There would be less depression in this world.”
Quoted: Lisa, Alicia, Tash and Erica CTS 2010
At least 100 creative peers, sponsors and public arrived at 6pm, $3 was automatically donated by THE BIRD for each guest who also received Beyondblue bags containing vital information regarding depression. Ryan Dillon’s soothing acoustic sounds caressed the crowd as they nibbled on vegies and local cheeses donated by Harvey Fresh.
In the courtyard packed of casual yet well dressed cool kids, Gen-Y media heads, DROPSTITCH models, designers and social photographers as the CTS team openly prepared for auction. Seen in the crowd were JODEE KNOWLES, ALISTER YIAP, TEAGAN SEWELL, CHELSEY WAYTE, ZOE TROTMAN, SCOTT-PATRICK MITCHELL, ELISHA QUINTAL, JEROMY LIM, DANIEL ROMANIN, DAVID WIER, MERGE, MIKE O’HANLON and JOHN MCLIVER.
MC for the night, JACQUI BROWN opened the auction with her wit and humour, whilst introducing each model as they descended on the stage with twisted bun hair by TONI & GUY and fresh makeup by CONSTANCE BOWLES. It was an array of colourful gold, orange, black and white themed offerings, one by one, transcending onto the stage holding sunny bidding signs. CTS crowd stopping outfits were the LONLEY -8 BIT HEROES tuxedo tights modelled by EMILY BATHGATE and for the lads the DAVID&/ORBILLY white cape modelled by CAMERON ETCHELLS was an instant hit.
BIDS & DONATIONS:
On the night of CTS all bids were officially opened at $0.00 as the crowd lined up & silently voted, slotting ballot slips into vintage suitcases, designed by PREVOSTWIER ARCHITECTS covered in sun’s, clouds and transcripts of past memories including a young child’s red ‘lego box’. Cork pin boards holding polaroid snaps of each corresponding outfit assisted in the voting process.
To open cash donations, the following were announced:
- The Bird $ 3 for every person through the door = $300 cash total by 8pm.
- Zanthus & generics $200 cash cheque
- Merge $100 cash cheque
The guests followed by donating cash - it was surprising to see more notes than coins go into the cases, helping themselves to a blue wrist band wording ‘look-listen-talk’ in recognition for their support.

Celebrate The Sun
CELEBRATE THE SUN
SILENT FASHION AUCTION & FUNDRAISER
Proudly Supporting beyondblue: the national depression initiative
1O NOVEMBER 2010
6pm – 8pm
THE BIRD, 181 William St Northbridge Perth Western Australia
Media Release
CELEBRATE THE SUN is a collaboration with Western Australia’s creative forces to raise awareness for beyondblue: the nationalndepression initiative.
Our key objective is to celebrate the importance of creative expression and raise awareness on depression in support of Beyondblue, an Australian independent, not-for-profit organization working to address issues associated with depression, anxiety and related substanceuse disorders in Australia.
A special industry night will be hosted by WA’s fashion & accessory designers where 100% of funds raised through a silent auction of fashion items and donation barrel will be directed to beyondblue to assist in research, education and providing effective services for those going through mental illness.
CELEBRATE THE SUN is supporting beyondblue to help raise awareness and reduce the stigma.
Over a million people in Australia live with depression. Over two million have an anxiety disorder. Depression affects 1 in 5 women and 1 in 8 men in their lifetime. Many people don’t realise they are suffering from it, or if someone they know are going through an ordeal as a result of not knowing how to cope with life’s struggles and make effective change. For some, it’s too late and as a result suicide is the victim’s only path to freedom. With the right treatment, most people recover.
It's easy to help raise awareness. Sometimes the simplest acts have the greatest impact - just talking openly about anxiety and depression helps reduce the stigma.
CELEBRATE THE SUN has the confirmed support of the following WA designers, creative entrepreneurs, editors, bloggers & businesses:

DeA style for Cebiche Swimwear
Recently I had the pleasure of co-styling a glamorous swimwear shoot at the exquisite Appealathon home (built by Zorzi), in Dalkeith.
Thankfully I had the help of my friend and co-stylist Candice VH, plus our Assistant Andrea Daclan, as we were pressed for time due to the Appealathon home being open to the public for inspection later that day.
Luckily Owner/Director of Cebiche Swimwear Hayley K Williams pulled together an amazing team; Photographer Ben Riches, Gorgeous MUA's Claire Luu and Shelley Meyer and Hair stylists Tia & Jo from Cafe styles in Fremantle, along with the Stunning Models; Holly, Amanda, Jade, Paige and Loren. With such a professional and up-beat team it made working to such a tight schedule a breeze.
Unfortunately due to the time constraints on the day we were unable to shoot all of the pieces from The Cebiche 2011 Swimwear Collection, which meant one thing..... Another shoot!!!!!
This time it was a shoot on a very small scale; the team consisted of Ben Riches (Photographer), Claire Luu (MUA), Holly Pauro (Model), Hayley K Williams (Creative Director) and Myself (Stylist).
The shoot took place in Cottesloe at another fantastic location, yet again the shoot went too well with everyone working in harmony and the glam Holly Pauro pulling off every style and every look, radiating natural beauty in the well cut, well fitting, unique pieces of swimwear from Cebiche.
Cebiche Swimwear is the ultimate lux must-have item this summer, say good-bye to mass produced swimwear and stand out this summer in these stunning designer pieces.
