♥ Thursday 7th October

I thought that I hadn't done one of these types of post for quiet a while, so here it is my  ♥'s for today the 7th of October.

The Fringe and Bob

This is a hairstyle that is eternal, it comes in many styles; 2008 saw razor sharp blunt lines which by 2009 turned  into messy boho chic layers as the fringes grew out.

Now as we come towards the end of 2010 and near 2011 we see the fringe and bob return in a much sleeker retro form, I am talking 60's/70's glam! A slight blow wave of the ends of the hair flicked in or out, with a un-polished finished, the fringe varying in lengths all dependant on your style and face shape.

Abbey Lee Kershaw shows us how it is done;

Fall '11 Boots

Fur lined boots!? No not Uggies, real shoes.

Ok so I am the first to admit when I had a friend describe these to me upon her return from O.S, I screwed up my face and said "What did you say, did you just say furline boots?"Followed by a bahahaha as the first image that came to mind was bogans walking down the streets in short denim skirts and ugg boots ala Pamela Anderson style before she was a spokeswomen for PETA.

I then went online and discovered these babies (see below). Now I understand what my friend was talking about, and I can see why European Fashionistas have fallen head over heels for them.

I don't know about you but now I can't wait for Autumn/Winter '11! By the looks of things it is going to be a (faux) furtastic season!

Perth local designer Lonely 8-bit heroes

I am a BIG fan of this little lady and her label: Zoe Trotman, is the face behind the label Lonely 8-bit heroes. I had the pleasure of meeting Zoe recently at numerous PFF events. Her designs are bold, beautiful and creative, she knows how to push boundaries.

Instead of falling a victim to fashion, Zoe exudes a confidence and a style of her own which is expressed through her incredibly innovative label, from the customised shoes and kicks to the most ASTONISHING lycra bodysuits and tights you will ever see, Lonely 8-bit Heroes is not for the faint hearted!

I stumbled across these photos, yes they are dark and slightly disturbing, yet for some reason I want to find more.

Don't Miss This!

“FASHION FIGHTS: Breast Cancer” raises funds for Breast Cancer research

Emily Bathgate is hosting “FASHION FIGHTS: Breast Cancer” on Friday, October 15th at Skatt salon in Mt Hawthorn (165 Scarborough Beach Road, Mt Hawthorn) in order to raise both awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

Prompted by both her and her friends’ involvement in breast cancer suffering via family history, Emily decided that it was time for fashion, her one true passion, to work to make a difference.

The time has come to match fashionable threads with a great cause!

This wonderful evening of fashion will feature fifteen of WA’s best emerging and established designers, including Belle Bijoux, Bernice Sara Swim & Resort, Poppy Lissiman and On Tour.

Ticket holders will be entertained by not only the parade, but by the silent auction, gourmet canapés, and free-flowing drinks. They will also gain free entry to the official and sponsored after party at Gold Bar, in Subiaco.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading national not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to supporting and promoting high quality research into the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

The Foundation is committed to funding high quality research responsive to the needs and interests of women affected by breast cancer. Since being established in 1994, the Foundation has awarded more than $67,350,035 to 256 breast cancer projects across Australia.

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly occurring cancers in Australian women, with 13,600 new cases expected to be diagnosed this year. But thanks to excellent research, deaths from the disease have been decreased by 22% in the last decade, with more women knowing the benefits of early detection and an increase in treatment options.

The contribution from activities such as “FASHION FIGHTS: Breast Cancer” will help ensure that the NBCF can keep working towards a cure. We encourage you to support this initiative and help to make a real difference to the many lives touched by breast cancer.

GLAM UP AND ROCK OUT FOR CHARITY

Local Fremantle resident Maree Giglia, owner of De’code Hair Body Lifestyle presents “Glam Rock”, a hair and fashion show extravaganza with all funds raised going directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The charitable event, will be held at The East End Bar & Lounge, Fremantle on Tuesday October 19 and will feature glamorous collections by Dangerfield and Rock a Frock, gorgeous hair styles and make-up, live
entertainment by local band Sleepfreak, a special demonstration of LIVE body painting on stage by Skylark
Face & Body Art, door prizes and major raffles and much more.

Maree is an internationally trained hair stylist who decided to organise the event after her friends mum sadly
passed away from breast cancer late last year.

“I have had many people in my life affected by breast cancer and when I heard my friend’s mum had passed
away last year and saw the affect it had on her, I knew that I needed to do something to raise awareness about the serious issue of breast cancer,” Maree says.

“Breast cancer affects many women and I don’t think people understand just how serious an issue it is for many Australian families. My hope is that by raising money and awareness through this event, I can in some
way help the National Breast Cancer Foundation come that little bit closer to finding a cure,” she says.

Miranda: Baby Bump, What baby bump?

Miranda Kerr looking as radiant as ever, did not let her hardly noticeable baby bump stop her from strutting the catwalk at the Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week last Thursday.

Proud husband Orlando Bloom  watched from the front row with the likes of Salma Hayek and Catherine Deneuve as his wife showed off designer Nicolas Ghesquière latest collection.

Summer Lovin'

Bec&Bridge are well known for their unique, fresh and inspirational designs. Their latest collection titled " High Summer" is no different; filled with shades of soft blush pink and tangerine, light gritty greys, warm earth, black, cream and pale denim; in an array of soft relaxed cuts has me in a a craze!

I absolutely love the use of drapery, ruching  and the small bubble detail which features on a number of skirts and dresses. This collection is feminine, chic and effortlessly cool, my idea of a perfect summer wardrobe.

And just when you thought things couldn't get any better, Bec&Bridge decided to dabble in jewellery design, recently releasing their first collection. Just like their clothing designs there jewellery is bold and sure to impress.
